SLEs

Sarah Bagshaw – CEO

Over 25 years’ experience driving successful business operations in a variety of sectors including a £350m turnover FMCG business. Worked within St Bede at a strategic level for over 13 years. Previously performed the role of acting COO covering for both the CEO and COO and understand the unique and successful way things are done at St Bede. embraces the Christian ethos of the Trust and understand the importance of this alongside the educational excellence. Spent a considerable amount of time supporting Heads of School with class observations, recruiting and mentoring staff. Key part of the implementation of the aims and objectives of the MAT, ensuring they are relevant and help fulfil the vision of the Trust. Created project teams to lead the development of the MAT, from St Bede Academy conversion (without the use of external consultants) through to the first sponsorship of a second Academy, Tonge Moor. Network nationally to benefit the Trust and educational sector as a whole. Including advising the House of Commons Select Committee for childcare affordability, being part of the NAHT SBL Committee to challenge the Government on their National Funding Formula, and attending select round table talks with Education Ministers. Created a sound financial base for the Trust within challenging times. Under her financial guidance the Trust has been able to self-fund many capital programs (e.g. additional classroom space) and build reserves to continue to do so in the future. Sarah Rostron – COO & Director

COO & Director Sarah has over 12 years’ experience in Primary School education. She is a Specialist Leader of Education with specialisms in Teaching and Learning, Curriculum Leadership and Quality Standards. She has successfully led initiatives at St Bede and other schools to raise standards in numeracy and literacy; to improve the quality of teaching and therefore impact of both Teachers and Teaching Assistants and to improve data reporting and analysis. Anna Black – Assistant Head, Upper School, St Bede Primary Academy

Jill Dring – Assistant Head for EYFS at the St Bede Primary Academy

Jill has been responsible for developing EY practice to an outstanding standard in 2 schools. She is an experienced SENCO who holds the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination. Jill is a Specialist Leader of Education with specialisms in Early Years and SEN. Laura Taylor – Delivers SCITT & NQT training

Laura Taylor - Delivers SCITT & NQT training Our Maths training at St. Bede Teaching School is delivered by Laura Taylor, who is a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) for both Maths and Initial Teacher Training. Laura is a fully qualified Maths Specialist Teacher (MaST) and a Primary Maths Mastery Specialist for North West Maths Hub Turing. She has the NCETM Accredited Professional Development Lead Status. Laura has been Maths Curriculum Group Lead at our Ofsted graded outstanding school, St. Bede Primary Academy in Bolton, for many years as well as other schools in Salford and Wigan in her career. Kate Penarski – STEM, SCITT, NQT trainer

St Bede Teaching School Science Centre Lead. Kate has over 11 years’ experience in Primary School education as a teacher and a leader and holds a National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership. She holds the award for the Enthuse STEM teacher of the year, 2020. She has shared her expertise in teaching and learning in world-leading education conferences and was chosen to represent the UK in the International Education Institute and is a recognised Harvard Education Fellow. She has extensive knowledge of leading effective professional development and has supported educators around the world by introducing frameworks and practical tools to support educators interested in quality teaching, learning, curriculum, research, assessment, professional development, and program evaluation. Kate is a Specialist Leader of Education with specialisms in Teaching and Learning, Science and Subject leadership and management.

Andrew Lawson Delivers SCITT & NQT Training

Music

Since qualifying for a BA (Hons) QTS degree in 1999, Andrew’s experience as a classroom practitioner has spanned across EYFS and both KS1 and KS2. Throughout his career he has held a number of curriculum leadership responsibilities including: Geography, History, Art and DT in addition to his specialist subject area of Music. As the Curriculum Lead for Music he is responsible for the delivery of the music curriculum across the MAT and is responsible for the effective use of budgets, staff training and coaching support.

Paula Allison - Delivers SCITT & NQT training for the following areas EYFS

She has over 12 years’ experience within the Early Years sector here in the UK and internationally. She has supported schools in various leadership roles and has enable extensive change within them. She has worked collaboratively with other Head Teachers as an inspirational and strategic leader, creating and implementing the shared vision and strategic development plans of the school that motivates students, staff, parents and all other members of the school community to achieve ongoing success. She is very passionate about Early Years education and has trained teachers/inspiring leaders internationally on best practice.

Michelle Drake - Delivers SCITT & NQT Training

Delivers SCITT & NQT training for the following areas: EYFS Michelle is the Early Years Phase Leader and Nursery Manager for the St Bede Academy Nursery. The Nursery is graded Outstanding by Ofsted. She uses her vast experience, passion and never-ending good humour to support other settings and schools in relation to their Early Years Provision. She played a key role in the ECaT project and is a Bolton Communication Champion. Michelle has worked collaboratively with external suppliers to create inspirational environments and is always looking for imaginative ways to provide outstanding teaching and learning.
