Kate Penarski – STEM, SCITT, NQT trainer
St Bede Teaching School Science Centre Lead. Kate has over 11 years’ experience in Primary School education as a teacher and a leader and holds a National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership. She holds the award for the Enthuse STEM teacher of the year, 2020. She has shared her expertise in teaching and learning in world-leading education conferences and was chosen to represent the UK in the International Education Institute and is a recognised Harvard Education Fellow. She has extensive knowledge of leading effective professional development and has supported educators around the world by introducing frameworks and practical tools to support educators interested in quality teaching, learning, curriculum, research, assessment, professional development, and program evaluation. Kate is a Specialist Leader of Education with specialisms in Teaching and Learning, Science and Subject leadership and management.
Lousie Greenword - KS1 Unit Lead
Louise has 'grown with St. Bede'. She has worked at St Bede Academy for 18 years, initially as a Teaching Assistant before becoming a qualified teacher. She has been teaching for over 13 years and has a wealth of experience in both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Louise has a real passion for supporting and 'growing others' as Senior Lead Mentor for SCITT, ITT and NQTs. In her role, Louise carries out interviews for SCITT recruitment and conducts Quality Assurance visits during placements. Louise is Lower School Lead and whole school Curriculum Lead for St. Bede Academy. She is a Literacy specialist and has a real passion for the subject, having led whole school improvement and delivered training across the MAT in this subject area. email@example.com
Fully qualified Accounting Technician with 12 years’ experience. Worked within the childcare and education sector for 6 years. Previously worked in retail and banking. Natalie provides admin support to the Teaching School, working with the STEM lead on marketing and recruitment. Also works in the accounts department of our associated Childcare charity.
Laura Taylor - Delivers SCITT & NQT training
Teaching School is delivered by Laura Taylor, who is a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) for both Maths and Initial Teacher Training. Laura is a fully qualified Maths Specialist Teacher (MaST) and a Primary Maths Mastery Specialist for North West Maths Hub Turing. She has the NCETM Accredited Professional Development Lead Status. Laura has been Maths Curriculum Group Lead at our Ofsted graded outstanding school, St. Bede Primary Academy in Bolton, for many years as well as other schools in Salford and Wigan in her career.
Anna Black – Assistant Head, Upper School, St Bede Primary Academy.

Claire Woods – St. Bede Teaching School Business Administrator.
Claire is the Office Manager at St. Bede C.E. Primary Academy and has worked at the school for over seven years, running the admin side of this very busy school. For the previous 18 years she worked for The Co-operative Financial Services in Marketing and Internal Communications. There she was responsible for the editing and production of their bi-monthly internal colleague magazine and measuring the engagement of colleagues. She also had responsibility for the planning of all internal communication messaging through the various communications channels
Early Years Team
Michelle Drake – Michelle is the Early Years Phase Leader and Nursery Manager for the St Bede Academy Nursery.
The Nursery is graded Outstanding by Ofsted. She uses her vast experience, passion and never-ending good humour to support other settings and schools in relation to their Early Years Provision. She played a key role in the ECaT project and is a Bolton Communication Champion. Michelle has worked collaboratively with external suppliers to create inspirational environments and is always looking for imaginative ways to provide outstanding teaching and learning. Michelle is a Specialist Leader of Education with specialisms in Early Years.
Kimberley Dearden – Childcare Director
Kim is our Childcare Director . She is an Early Years Professional, a BA (Hons) graduate in Early Years Leadership and Management and also our Child-minder Agency Lead. Her responsibilities include Little Rainbows, rated Outstanding by Ofsted. She is an experienced trainer, speaks regularly at National Conferences and was recently asked to present to the Westminster Education Forum.
Jill Dring – Assistant Head for EYFS at the St Bede Primary Academy
Jill has been responsible for developing EY practice to an outstanding standard in 2 schools. She is an experienced SENCO who holds the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination. Jill is a Specialist Leader of Education with specialisms in Early Years and SEN. She has vast experience of supporting external schools, settings and practitioners and has been identified as a Lead Practitioner for Bolton.
Stephanie began her “Early Years journey” as a Nursery Assistant in a PVI setting. From there she worked her way “up” and is now a Qualified Early Years Teacher with a number of years’ experience behind her. She has worked in the Reception class at the St Bede Primary Academy for 8 years where her expertise in Teaching and Learning are widely recognised. She also became a Moderator across the Bolton LA. Stephanie used her Early Years knowledge to support introducing continuous provision in the Year One classes at St Bede Primary Academy. She now has a different role in school; however, she always uses her creative approach to teaching in all her lessons.
Jenna is an experienced and outstanding Early Years Teacher. Having previously worked in PVI settings, she has taught in the Reception Classes at the St Bede Primary Academy for a number of years. Jenna specialises in Teaching and Learning to which she has an incredibly creative approach. She is also heavily involved in Outdoor Play, where her creative skills come to the fore.
