The St Bede Group includes an Outstanding Primary Academy (which has three reception classes), five nurseries (including a school nursery, and a PVI nursery on the same site as the Academy), eight Out of School Clubs, a Childminding Agency and a Teaching School.
Each module on the programme will be hosted by one or two facilitators from the St Bede group who have been selected to host that module because of their expertise in the area covered. They include:
Jack Hatch OBE – Jack is Executive Head teacher of St Bede Primary Academy and a Director of St Bede Childcare Ltd. In 2015 he received an OBE for Services to Education. He is a National Leader of Education and is recognised nationally as being at the cutting edge of both Early Years and Primary Education. It is Jack’s passion for improving Education and Early Years provision for the young people of Bolton and Wigan which has led the St Bede group to where it is. He meets often with Government Ministers and others involved in formulating and influencing Early Years and Education Policy. Jack is also a National Champion for Pupil Premium.
Jill Dring – Assistant Head for EYFS at the St Bede Primary Academy, Jill has been responsible for developing EY practice to an outstanding standard in 2 schools. She is an experienced SENCO who holds the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination. Jill is a Specialist Leader of Education with specialisms in Early Years and SEN. She has vast experience of supporting external schools, settings and practitioners and has been identified as a Lead Practitioner for Bolton.
Michelle Drake – Michelle is the Nursery Manager for the St Bede Academy Nursery, graded Outstanding by Ofsted. She uses her vast experience, passion and never-ending good humour to support other settings and schools in relation to their Early Years Provision. She played a key role in the ECAT project and is a Bolton Communication Champion. She has worked with external suppliers to create inspirational environments and has been invited to co-author a book on EY Outdoor Environments.
Stephanie White – Steph began her “Early Years journey” as a Nursery Assistant in a PVI setting. From there she worked her way “up” and is now a Qualified Early Years Teacher with a number of years’ experience behind her. She works in the Reception classes at the St Bede Primary Academy where her expertise in Teaching and Learning are widely recognised. She also employs her skills as a Moderator across the Bolton LA.
Jenna Philburn – Jenna is an experienced and outstanding Early Years Teacher. Having previously worked in PVI settings, she has taught in the Reception Classes at the St Bede Primary Academy for a number of years. Jenna specialises in Teaching and Learning to which she has an incredibly creative approach. She is also heavily involved in Outdoor Play, where her creative skills come to the fore.
Kimberley Dearden – Kim is another of our Early Years Area Managers. She is an Early Years Professional, a BA (Hons) graduate in Early Years Leadership and Management and also our Child-minder Agency Lead. Her responsibilities include Little Rainbows, rated Outstanding by Ofsted. She is an experienced trainer, speaks regularly at National Conferences and was recently asked to present to the Westminster Education Forum.
Sarah Bagshaw – our Director of Finance and HR. Sarah is a qualified Chartered Accountant with years of experience in large commercial operations. She has been Finance Director of the St Bede Group for 8 years. She regularly presents at National Conferences and is a specialist in the financial sustainability of Early Years settings and in schools. This expertise led to her being invited to present before the House of Lords Affordable Childcare Committee. She is currently involved in the DfE Consultation on the Cost of Childcare.
